Abandonment Valve
The Abandonment Valve is a robust sliding valve system designed to temporarily abandon wells without removing the work string.

The Abandonment Valve is engineered to provide a secure and efficient solution for temporary well abandonment—most commonly during offshore storm scenarios or while servicing BOPs during drilling. Designed to run in conjunction with heavy-duty service packers like the HD Abandonment Packer, this valve allows significant loads to hang through the tool so a work string can remain in place below. It utilizes a colleted sliding valve that opens and closes through disconnect and reconnect operations, enabling high-rate circulation without valve damage. Built with a colleted latch system using left-hand buttress threads, the Abandonment Valve ensures a strong, secure engagement and is safeguarded against thread back-off during packer setting.
Special Features
- Enables temporary well abandonment without pulling the work string
- Colleted sliding valve opens/closes via tool disconnection/reconnection
- High-flow capacity via aligned valve and case flow slots
- Heavy-load capable design for offshore and high-stress environments
- Colleted latch with left-hand buttress threads ensures strong engagement
- Thread-locking set screws prevent unintentional loosening during operations
